Kahului, Hawaii – The Maui Police Department is actively seeking the public’s help in locating Marina Bonofiglio, a 33-year-old resident of Kahului, who was reported missing early Sunday morning. Bonofiglio’s disappearance has raised concerns after her personal belongings, including her cell phone, were discovered near Pulehu Road, approximately 0.1 miles northwest of the Central Maui Landfill.
Bonofiglio was last heard from around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, when she called a friend for a ride. Upon arriving, her friends found no trace of Bonofiglio, only her belongings on the roadside. A search in the vicinity was conducted, but no signs of Bonofiglio were found.
Marina Bonofiglio is described as Caucasian, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing around 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. It remains unclear what type of clothing she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.
Concerned friends and community members have taken to social media to express their worries and hope for Bonofiglio’s safe return.
April Colpas wrote, “I don’t know if it was her but I saw a woman that maybe matches the description walking on the bypass up to Baldwin yesterday. She had on a hoodie, same color hair, it seemed like she was wearing a longer sweater but no pants. She was heading up Paia or possibly Makawao.”
Joann Domen posted, “Praying for her safe return. Love and hugs to her ohana,” while Maria Ginnebaugh commented, “This is so bizarre that her belongings were found but not her. Truly hope she will be found very soon!”
Anyone with information regarding Marina Bonofiglio’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Maui Police Department at their non-emergency number, 808-244-6400. In case of an emergency, please dial 911 and refer to MPD report number 24-024639. The community and Bonofiglio’s friends remain hopeful for her safe return.
