Steve Gibbo’s Passing – Community Mourns the Loss of a Beloved Character

The tight-knit community has been deeply saddened by the news of Steve Gibbo’s passing. Known affectionately by many as Dubba, Stubbins, or Elvis, Steve was a beloved figure, and his death in the hospital last night has left a void that will be difficult to fill.

Steve, an old-school scaffolder, was known for his larger-than-life personality and unwavering loyalty. His presence was unique, and those who knew him fondly remember his infectious laughter and the joy he brought into their lives. As Mark Smith, a friend, shared on Facebook, "He was a proper old-school scaffolder, and the mold was definitely broken when they made him."

In memory of Steve, friends and family plan to gather at The Bank this afternoon from 2 o’clock onwards to raise a toast in his honor and reminisce about the many laughs they shared. The gathering is a testament to the profound impact Steve had on those around him.

Philip Deyes also expressed his sorrow, writing, "Terrible news, god bless Dubba, sleep easy, my friend." This sentiment was echoed by many others who posted heartfelt messages on social media. Josh Nielson reflected, "Really sad news. Top bloke and a real good laugh. Always one of the lads. Rest up, Dubba."

Steve’s passing has brought forth a wave of condolences, particularly towards his family and Karen. The community stands united in their grief, cherishing the memories of a man who was truly one of a kind. As Stephen Hand aptly put it, "R.I.P Dubba, it was a pleasure knowing you."

Steve Gibbo’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and the community will gather to celebrate his life and the joy he brought to so many.
