Terry Barnett Jr., 47-Year-Old Marion Resident, Fatally Shot in Canal Port Park; Authorities Investigate Domestic Conflict

Marion, Illinois – Tragedy struck on Thursday afternoon when 47-year-old Terry Barnett Jr., a resident of Marion, was fatally shot in a suburban neighborhood near Canal Port Park. The incident occurred around 12:05 p.m., as reported by the Morris Police Department.

Law enforcement officers responded to the scene near West Illinois Avenue and Fulton Avenue, where they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A firearm was also recovered at the scene. Unfortunately, Terry Barnett Jr. was pronounced dead at the site, while the other victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

The Grundy County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased as Terry A. Barnett Jr. A postmortem examination is scheduled for later on Friday to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have indicated that the shooting may have been the result of a domestic conflict. However, further details have not been disclosed as the investigation continues.
