Theresa Delucia Death in Syosset – Five Family Members Found Dead in Tragic Murder-Suicide

Syosset, Long Island – A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in the usually quiet neighborhood of Syosset, Long Island, where five members of a family were found dead in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide. The incident took place on Wyoming Court, shocking the community located about 30 miles east of New York City.

The Nassau County Police Department reported that officers responded to multiple calls of gunfire at the residence shortly after noon on Sunday. Upon arrival, they discovered a man outside the home who had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Inside the house, police found four additional victims, all fatally shot.

The tragic event occurred in the wake of the death of Theresa Martha DeLucia, the family matriarch, who passed away last week at the age of 95. Family members had gathered for her funeral and were planning to meet with a realtor to discuss selling the family home. Mary Macaluso, a local real estate agent scheduled to meet the family, arrived to find the police already on the scene.

The alleged gunman, described as a man in his 60s, was reportedly one of Theresa DeLucia’s children. He had lived with his mother for many years, and neighbors suggested he may have been struggling to cope with her recent passing. Neighbors expressed their shock, with one stating, “I didn’t think that… he’d take his whole family, his siblings.”

The incident has left the Syosset community in mourning. Police are conducting a thorough investigation to understand the motive behind the shootings, but no further details have been released. The loss of these family members has deeply affected the community, which is now rallying together to support one another in the aftermath of this devastating event.
