Griswold, Connecticut – In a devastating accident that occurred early this morning on Interstate 395 southbound, Timothy Murray, a 42-year-old resident of Ashby, Massachusetts, tragically lost his life. The incident took place between Exit 28/Lathrop Road in Plainfield and Exit 24/CT 201 in Griswold, involving a Freightliner utility truck owned by Buckley Cable Construction Company from Trainer, Pennsylvania.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., as the truck was traveling in the right lane, it veered off course and struck a metal beam guardrail due to an upcoming lane closure caused by planned construction. The impact caused the truck to re-enter the right lane, only to strike the guardrail once more, resulting in the vehicle rolling over and descending down the roadside embankment. The truck ultimately came to rest on its left side, leading to the fatal injuries that claimed Murray’s life at the scene.
The Connecticut State Police, along with the Traffic Services Unit Truck Squad and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad, responded to the accident and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are seeking any witnesses or video recordings that might aid in understanding the events leading up to the tragedy.
Murray’s death has left the community in mourning, with many taking to social media to express their sorrow and condolences. Debbie Murray Drouin, Timothy’s sister, shared her shock on Facebook, writing, "This was my youngest brother. I am still in shock!! How could this happen?"
Others also expressed their grief and condolences, including Joy Harmon, who wrote, "May angels carry him home. May family and friends find comfort, strength, and guidance at this time. Remember, if we got it…a trucker bought it. Rest in peace."
The ongoing investigation aims to provide clarity on the contributing factors that led to this tragic event. The family of Timothy Murray is expected to release an obituary soon, as they come to terms with their heartbreaking loss.
The community continues to rally around the Murray family, offering support and prayers during this difficult time.
