Timothy Ray Rison of Lexington, KY, Passes Away Just Days Before 61st Birthday

Lexington, KY – Timothy Ray Rison, affectionately known as "Tim," passed away on August 25, 2024, just two days before his 61st birthday. Born on August 27, 1963, in Paris, Kentucky, Tim was a beloved figure known for his infectious laughter and adventurous spirit.

Tim’s life was marked by a deep passion for sports and a commitment to his family. A 1981 graduate of Paris High School, Tim’s enthusiasm for sports was evident early on. He was a skilled bowler, known for achieving impressive 300 games and 800 series scores. His love for sports extended beyond bowling; he was an avid softball player and golfer, spending many sunny afternoons enjoying these activities with friends and family. Tim’s support for the University of Kentucky’s basketball and football teams and his dedication to the Boston Red Sox were well-known among his friends.

In addition to his love for sports, Tim was a successful businessman. He owned BGT Trucking and Central Sealing, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his community. Tim was respected for his hard work and the strong relationships he built within his industry.

Tim’s sense of humor and friendly nature made him a cherished member of his community. He was known for his ability to bring joy to any room, spreading laughter and happiness wherever he went. His adventurous nature inspired those around him to embrace life with the same enthusiasm.

Tim leaves behind a loving family, including his three children, Bradley K. Smith, Amy K. Smith, and Kaitlyn D. Rison, as well as his beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Donna Holman, Ann Rison, James Earl Rison, Michael Rison, and Monica Dickerson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tim’s ex-wife, Anita Stith, also survives him, along with many friends and extended family members who will miss his presence.

His passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences on social media. Reba Dodge Blanton shared, “Condolences to the family during this time of bereavement! Rest on classmate PHS ’81.” Barry Moreland simply expressed, “Prayers,” while Lois Mitchell added, “Prayers for his family and friends.” Floyd Withrow, a close friend, wrote, “Going to miss you brother love you man.”

Funeral services for Timothy Ray Rison will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, KY. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM the same day at the funeral home.

Timothy Ray Rison’s legacy of joy, love, and adventure will continue to inspire those who knew him. His memory will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of sharing in his laughter and love for life.
