Ramseur, North Carolina – Tyler Franklin, a 17-year-old student from Eastern Randolph High School, has tragically passed away following a car accident on August 22, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 6:25 PM at the intersection of Kildee Church Road and Parks Crossroads Church Road.
Franklin was driving an Infiniti passenger vehicle west on Kildee Church Road when he lost control, veered off the road, and struck a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire. Alongside Franklin were four other teenagers. A 15-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while Franklin was rushed to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Two female passengers also sustained significant injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The identities of the injured passengers have not been released.
In the wake of this tragedy, Tyler Franklin’s brother, Ethan Franklin, has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of his brother’s funeral and medical expenses. The community is rallying to support the Franklin family during this difficult time.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the accident to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, aided by two 911 calls generated by crash notifications from the iPhone in the vehicle.
