Portland, Tennessee – A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Portland when 15-month-old Nicholas Crowder was found dead in his home on Butler Road, strapped into his car seat. The discovery was made after a probation officer conducting a routine visit noticed a lifeless woman through the window and a small girl wandering the house.
Upon entering the home, deputies from the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office found the body of 32-year-old Tiffany Spears, the mother of Nicholas and a three-year-old girl, who was also in the house. Spears was found deceased with no visible signs of trauma, and authorities later confirmed that she had overdosed on amphetamine and fentanyl. Tragically, Nicholas had succumbed to malnutrition and dehydration after being left unattended for several days.
The medical examiner’s report revealed that Nicholas’s three-year-old sister had attempted to care for him, leaving food around his car seat, but her efforts were sadly in vain. The toddler’s death has shaken the local community and highlighted the tragic consequences of substance abuse.
