Tragic Drowning at Flaming Gorge Reservoir Claims Life of Mariah Maynes; Daughter Still Missing

Manila, UT — A tragic incident occurred on Saturday at Flaming Gorge Reservoir, leading to the death of Mariah Maynes, who drowned in the afternoon. The 44-year-old was found unresponsive at Swim Beach, where emergency responders were unable to revive her despite the efforts of a nearby individual performing CPR.

The Daggett County Sheriff’s Office received the distressing call around 4:20 p.m. and quickly dispatched emergency services, including the Flaming Gorge Ambulance and Green River Fire Department. Despite their rapid response, Mariah Maynes was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a heartbreaking development, authorities also revealed that Maynes’s daughter, who was with her at the time, remains missing. Search operations were conducted throughout the night and resumed the following morning, but she has yet to be found.

Sheriff Erik L. Bailey of the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office expressed deep condolences to the family and emphasized the importance of wearing flotation devices while on Utah’s lakes. The Sheriff’s Office, along with other local authorities, continues to search for the missing daughter, hoping for a positive outcome.
