Camas, Washington – A tragic accident on Lacamas Lake has claimed the life of 48-year-old Vancouver resident Angela Narciso. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 8, around 7:11 p.m., when two jet skis collided on the lake, throwing both Narciso and a 10-year-old child into the water.
According to the Camas-Washougal Fire Department and Camas Police Department, both Angela Narciso and the child were wearing life jackets at the time of the collision, which likely prevented further tragedy. A nearby boater quickly came to their aid, rescuing both from the water. While the child and the other jet ski operator, who were acquaintances of Narciso, were unharmed, Narciso was in critical condition.
Emergency medical personnel responded swiftly, and Narciso was transported to a local hospital. Despite their best efforts, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other jet ski operator, who remained at the scene, is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation by the Camas Police Department, with assistance from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit.
Chief Tina Jones of the Camas Police Department expressed her deep sorrow, stating, “We are deeply saddened to hear of this deadly outcome from what should have been a fun summer day on our beautiful lake. Condolences to the family and friends impacted by this loss.” Chief Jones also emphasized the importance of water safety, urging the public to exercise caution, wear personal flotation devices, and stay informed about CPR and boater safety classes.
The Camas Police Department is appealing to any witnesses of the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation. Those with information are encouraged to contact Sergeant Stefan Hausinger at (360) 817-1503 or via email at Stefan.hausinger@cityofcamas.us.
