North Haven, Connecticut – The community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Conor Hylton, a 26-year-old student at the UConn School of Dental Medicine and a cherished member of the New Haven Gaelic Football Club. Conor passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2024, leaving behind a heartbroken family and a vast network of friends and loved ones.
Born in New Haven on January 31, 1998, Conor was the son of Drs. William H. Hylton and Betsy Leary Hylton, both esteemed professionals in the dental field. He was a beloved brother to Liam and Blake Hylton and the cherished fiancée of Nicole Tonelli, a student at Quinnipiac University School of Law. Conor was known for his exceptional athletic abilities, which included being an all-state varsity hockey goalie at Notre Dame High School and a black belt in Taekwondo. His passion for sports extended to his involvement in Irish football with the New Haven Gaelic Football Club.
Conor’s educational achievements were equally impressive. After graduating with honors from Notre Dame High School, he attended the University of Connecticut, where he earned a double major and graduated with honors. At the time of his passing, he was pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a dentist, following in his parents’ footsteps.
The news of Conor’s untimely death has deeply affected those who knew him. Diane Funaro shared her sorrow on Facebook, writing, "With a heavy heart, I repost this from my respected boss of 25 years and his family. Our hearts are broken." Other friends and acquaintances expressed their condolences, including Cindy Tortora, who noted, "Oh no. Dr. Bill must be absolutely devastated. This is awful news."
Visitation for Conor will be held on Sunday, August 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Notre Dame High School in West Haven, with Conor’s name noted in the memo.
