Tragic Loss in Davenport – Megan McCubbin Remembered by Family and Friends

Davenport, IA – The community of Davenport is mourning the loss of Megan McCubbin, a beloved resident and bar attendant at East Davenport’s Players bar. Megan, who was 28 years old, tragically passed away by suicide, leaving behind two young daughters and a grieving partner, Hunter Vogel.

Megan was a vibrant and cheerful woman who was deeply loved by her family, friends, and colleagues. Originally from Dixon, IA, she was a graduate of Calamus Wheatland High School. Her infectious personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

The news of her passing has shaken the community, with many taking to social media to express their sorrow and support. Brian Heritage shared a heartfelt post, stating, "It truly wreaks havoc on my soul that this is my last, and most favorite picture of us all together. Losing you is unfair. The rest of us are incomplete without you. Lives will forever be dimmer with you gone. I promise to try to do right by you. I love you so much and you will forever live on in each of our best memories. We love you so much, Megan McCubbin."

Other friends and acquaintances echoed similar sentiments. Shane Andon expressed his condolences by saying, "So sorry for the lost neighbor," while Cindy Gilmore added, "So sorry to hear this. Prayers to her friends and family."

The staff at Players bar also paid tribute to Megan, describing her as someone far beyond special. They reflected on her impact, stating, "Megan McCubbin wasn’t something special, she was way better than that. Your personality, your smile, and your true zest for life were contagious. Megan, nobody will be the same, and nobody understands. Your fingerprint has been left, your legacy has been written."

Megan’s older sister, Kayla McCubbin, shared an emotional message, mourning the loss of her "sweet sweet baby sister." She wrote, "28 years was not long enough with you on this earth. I have so many questions, I’m mad, sad, angry. You were my ride or die for life. My sitty forever. I know you will live on through your two beautiful girls."

Funeral arrangements for Megan McCubbin will be released by her family in due time. The community continues to come together in support, offering prayers and condolences as they remember a life that touched so many.
