Jackson Township, Ohio – The community continues to mourn the loss of John Pappas, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on September 11, 2022. The fatal crash occurred on Strausser Street NW when 27-year-old Jacob Muiter, driving under the influence of narcotics and alcohol, collided with Pappas’ vehicle around 11 p.m.
John Pappas was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife was rushed to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. Her current condition remains unknown.
Jacob Muiter has since been sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence. Muiter’s blood alcohol level was found to be more than three times the legal limit, and amphetamines were present in his system at the time of the crash.
The sentencing, delivered by Judge Frank Forchione, has brought some closure, but the void left by John Pappas remains deep in the hearts of his family and friends. They remember him fondly and continue to honor his memory.
