Kampala, Uganda – The community is mourning the loss of beloved missionary and co-founder of Revive Ministries Uganda, Samuel Kawooya, who tragically passed away following a motorcycle accident in Kampala on August 24, 2024. Samuel, who along with his wife, Leslie Gore-Kawooya, had dedicated his life to serving others in Uganda, leaves behind his wife and two children, Phillip and Zoe.
Samuel’s passing has deeply affected those who knew him, both in Uganda and Canada, where he and his family have made significant impacts through their mission work. In response to the heartbreaking news, a fundraiser has been organized by Melissa Irene to support Leslie and her children during this difficult time. The fundraiser has already raised $1,240 CAD out of a $10,000 goal, with donations coming from friends and well-wishers.
The news of Samuel’s death has also led to an outpouring of condolences and memories on social media. Ntende Baker shared on Facebook, "Yesterday, I was saddened by the news about Samuel Kawooya’s passing. He was a free soul that shared and deeply cared for his friends—you could see how genuinely he did that with simplicity. May his soul Rest in Eternal Peace."
