Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims the Life of Jim Ferreira, 61, in Granby, Connecticut

Granby, Connecticut – Jim Ferreira, a beloved 61-year-old resident of Granby, tragically lost his life on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in a motorcycle accident on Route 189 in Simsbury. Known for his deep love for his family and passion for mountain biking, Jim’s sudden passing has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born on March 3, 1963, in Hartford, Jim was the son of James and Theresa Ferreira (Correira). He graduated from Somers High School in 1981 and built a successful career as a CNC programmer, dedicating 16 years to Aerogear Aerospace. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim was an avid mountain biker, an enthusiastic Manchester United fan, and a devoted father and grandfather.

Jim’s life was centered around his family, particularly his sons, Dylan and Joshua, and his grandson, Oliver. He cherished spending time with them, whether on bike rides, at the playground, or simply sharing a laugh. His humor and warm presence were infectious, ensuring that no one left his company without a smile.

Jim is survived by his sisters, Theresa Pilch, Peggy Jaronko, and Cathy Gotta, as well as his children, Dylan and Joshua Ferreira, and his daughter, Sarah Bennett. His memory will also live on through his grandson Oliver and the many friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly.

Friends and family will gather to honor Jim’s life on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home in Granby. A private funeral service will follow on Saturday, August 17, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s memory to McLean’s Game Refuge in Granby, reflecting his love for nature and the outdoors.
