Charlotte, North Carolina – The Charlotte community is reeling after the tragic death of 47-year-old Dennis Paul Koch, who lost his life in a fatal motorcycle collision on Old Statesville Road. The accident, which occurred on August 18, 2024, has left his family and friends in deep grief, as they come to terms with the sudden loss.

The incident involved a collision between a 2016 Mercedes Benz GLE 350, driven by 44-year-old Vernetta Beatty-Cypriani, and a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Koch. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), the crash happened when the Mercedes Benz failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with Koch’s motorcycle. Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage, and Koch, who was ejected from the motorcycle, suffered severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

CMPD’s initial investigation concluded that neither speed nor impairment were factors in the accident. Vernetta Beatty-Cypriani has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

The news has sent shockwaves through the community, particularly among those who knew Koch. On Facebook, Robert Rankin expressed his disbelief and sorrow, posting, “Smh. I still can’t believe my brother Dennis Paul Koch is gone. Unreal does not start to explain this. Please keep Crystal Ashe, the two boys, Chris Hester his wife Jennifer and our entire ride family in your prayers. God knows we all need it and will need it going forward.”

Another friend, Grady Brooks, shared a poignant message of faith and hope, writing, “Deebo may be gone from our lives currently, but I believe his selfless devotion to others and his belief in Jesus Christ says we will meet again.”

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers on the road and the lasting impact such losses have on families and communities. The memory of Dennis Paul Koch will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, as they navigate through this difficult time.
