Troy Ducote Fatally Shot in Shreveport’s Werner Park Neighborhood, Investigation Underway

Shreveport, Louisiana – A tragic incident unfolded in the Werner Park neighborhood of Shreveport, Louisiana, as 35-year-old Troy Ducote was fatally shot following an altercation on the evening of August 16, 2024. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office identified Ducote, a white male, who was found with a gunshot wound to the back at a residence in the 3000 block of Boone Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:04 p.m.

The Shreveport Police Department responded to reports of the shooting just before 9:30 p.m. Investigators from the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units quickly launched an investigation, conducting a thorough canvass of the neighborhood and collecting evidence from the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that Ducote was involved in a dispute with several juveniles prior to the shooting.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. In an effort to identify and apprehend those responsible, Caddo Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office reports that Ducote’s death marks the 39th homicide within Shreveport city limits this year, contributing to the ongoing concern over rising violence in the area.
