Union Leader and Community Advocate Todd Rylan Gacioch Passes Away at 51 in Southeast Michigan

Southeast Michigan – The community mourns the loss of Todd Rylan Gacioch, who passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2024, at the age of 51. A dedicated member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 38, Todd’s passing has left a significant void in both the entertainment industry and the local community.

Todd began his career with IATSE Local 38 in 1997 and became known for his extensive work across various entertainment venues throughout southeast Michigan. For the past several years, he served as the Union Steward at Ford Field, where he was highly regarded for his commitment and leadership.

Beyond his professional work, Todd was deeply involved in union activism and volunteerism. He played a pivotal role in the union’s Apprentice Committee and co-chaired the Education Department, demonstrating his dedication to the growth and education of his colleagues. His efforts were also instrumental in securing a union contract for Detroit’s Fillmore Theatre, further solidifying his legacy as a tireless advocate for workers’ rights.

Todd’s commitment extended beyond the union. He actively participated in community service projects, including building local playgrounds and contributing to the annual Stamp Out Hunger campaign organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers. His passion for giving back to the community was evident in every aspect of his life.

Remembered as a compassionate and supportive individual, Todd touched many lives with his kind words and thoughtful advice. He was always ready to help those in need, providing unwavering support to his union brothers and sisters and reaching out to individuals facing personal challenges.

Todd Rylan Gacioch was laid to rest in a private family burial service. The family is considering a memorial service to honor his life and contributions, with details to be announced in the future.
