Urgent Search Underway for Missing 17-Year-Old Lorcan Meehan from Portlaoise, Co Laois, Last Seen on Tuesday Morning

Portlaoise, Co Laois – Gardaí are urgently seeking public assistance in locating 17-year-old Lorcan Meehan, who has been missing from Portlaoise, County Laois, since Tuesday morning, August 13, 2024. Lorcan was last seen at approximately 11:40 am in Portlaoise, and concerns are growing for his safety and wellbeing.

Lorcan is described as being 5’1" with a slim build, blonde hair, and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing grey jogger pants, a black jacket, and carrying a black backpack. It is believed that he may have traveled to the Park West area of Dublin.

Authorities and Lorcan’s family are deeply concerned and are appealing to anyone who might have information on his whereabouts to come forward. They are urging anyone with details to contact Portlaoise Garda Station at 057 867 4100, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

The community has taken to social media to express their concern and hope for Lorcan’s safe return. Anthony J Roche posted, "Praying for his safe return," while Cathy Kenny added, "Hope he is found Safe & Well soon." Another concerned individual, Dorothy Graham, commented, "Oh this poor lad, hopefully, he is found and looked after. Heartbreaking to see his picture appearing so much on the missing site."

The Missing Persons Helpline Ireland has also shared the appeal, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. The community’s support and prayers are pouring in as the search for Lorcan continues.

Gardaí are requesting that anyone who has seen Lorcan or has information regarding his movements since Tuesday morning to report it immediately. The public’s assistance is crucial in helping bring Lorcan home safely.
