Swansea, Wales – The family of Reginald Rees, a 98-year-old man, has issued an urgent plea to the public for help in locating him after he went missing on Wednesday morning, August 14, 2024. Reginald was last seen in Pencaerfenni Park, Crofty, around 8:35 a.m., driving his red Renault Captur, with the registration number Y44 REG. His sudden disappearance has sparked widespread concern, as there have been no sightings of him or his vehicle for nearly 24 hours.
Reginald’s granddaughter, Neesha Craig, took to Facebook to express the family’s growing anxiety, stating, “There have been no sightings of my grandfather (Reginald Rees) or of his car in nearly 24 hours. He hasn’t been picked up by any ANPR cameras, so we have been focusing the search in the Gower area.” The vehicle, a red Renault Captur, has not been detected by ANPR cameras, leading authorities to concentrate their search efforts within the Gower region.
The elderly man was last seen wearing light brown or cream trousers, a striped light purple shirt, a light green body warmer, and brown Velcro shoes. It is unclear if he was wearing his glasses at the time of his disappearance. Due to his age and the duration he has been missing, Reginald has been classified as a high-priority missing person by local authorities.
Community members have been urged to be vigilant and report any potential sightings immediately. The urgency of the situation is reflected in numerous social media posts, with one user, Tommy G, who is a comedian, sharing, “PLEASE HELP TO FIND – Reginald Rees. If you see him or his car, please dial 999 immediately.” Another user, Jacquelyn Haley Batista, inquired, “Is any public out looking for him Tom xx will PM x.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the police by calling 999 and quoting occurrence number 2400272022. The family is appealing to the community to share the missing person posts widely to increase the chances of locating Reginald quickly.
The search for Reginald continues, with hopes that public awareness and collective efforts will lead to his safe return.
