Old Bridge Township, New Jersey – A search is currently underway for Zaakir Powell, a 27-year-old man who went missing on Wednesday, August 21. Powell was last seen leaving his residence at the Avalon Apartments on foot around 2 p.m. He was wearing a white t-shirt, grey shorts, and blue slides at the time of his disappearance.
Powell is described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has been diagnosed with depression, schizophrenia, and a high-functioning degree of autism. Authorities believe he may be roaming around woods and bodies of water, areas he is known to frequent.
The Old Bridge Township Police Department has issued a Missing Person Alert and is urging anyone with information on Powell’s whereabouts to contact them at (732) 721-4000.
The community has expressed their concern and support through social media. Erin O’Neill Johns commented, "Prayers he is found safe." Ann Schmidt added, "Praying he’s found soon," reflecting the sentiments of many who are hoping for Powell’s safe return. Another concerned individual, Josh Aaron, posted, "I hope this guy is found & he’s safe."
