Urgent Search Underway in Mecklenburg County for Missing 70-Year-Old Clay George Currin, Who Suffers from Dementia

Mecklenburg County, Virginia – Authorities and the community are deeply concerned as the search intensifies for 70-year-old Clay George Currin, who has been missing since the night of August 20, 2024. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office reported that Currin, who suffers from dementia, left his residence on Pine Lane in the Keats Point area on foot and may not be wearing shoes.

The Sheriff’s Office has described Currin as a white male, standing 5’7" tall with gray hair. Due to his condition, there is heightened concern for his safety, and the search remains active at this time. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen him or has information on his whereabouts to contact them immediately.

The community has rallied on social media, sharing prayers and concerns for Currin’s safe return. Mary Newsome Gordon commented, "Prayers for his safety and found ok," while Ernestine Harvey Fielder also expressed hope, saying, "Prayers for his safe return home!" Many others, like Tommy Wilburn and Ruby Willingham, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the community’s collective anxiety and support.

Blanche Franklin Ridgeway provided a moment of relief with an update that Currin has been "found safe," though this information has yet to be confirmed by official sources.

As the search continues, the outpouring of support from the local community highlights the urgent need to locate Clay George Currin and ensure his safe return home.
