Vancouver Island, British Columbia – The search for Nicholas Marion, who has been missing for over a month, continues as his wife, Dory LaFrance, and the local community plead for help in bringing him home safely. Nicholas was last seen on July 1 at the Maple Grove campsite near Youbou, Lake Cowichan area. Despite multiple reported sightings within the first 36 hours of his disappearance, there have been no confirmed leads since.
Dory LaFrance has been tirelessly campaigning on social media, sharing heartfelt messages about her husband’s disappearance. "This is my beautiful husband who has been missing for over a month after going for a morning walk," Dory wrote on Facebook. "He is loved and missed by so many. Please share his beautiful face. I miss him so much and am so worried about him."
Dory expressed deep concern for Nicholas’s mental health, stating that he had not been himself in the days leading up to his disappearance. She mentioned that he had been experiencing memory issues and had lost a significant amount of weight following the recent passing of his mother.
The community has rallied around Dory, with many sharing her posts and offering assistance in the search. Christina Doak, a close friend of the family, urged, "Nicholas’s loved ones still want Nick home safely. Have you seen him?" She encouraged anyone with information to contact the Lake Cowichan RCMP.
As the search enters its sixth week, Dory remains hopeful that Nicholas will be found and that he can receive the help he needs to recover. The Lake Cowichan RCMP continues to investigate the case under file number 2024-1151.
The community’s support has been a source of strength for Dory, who asks anyone who might have seen Nicholas or noticed anything unusual to come forward. The family remains optimistic and is asking for continued assistance in postering, canvassing, and searching the local trails.
"We need help, so please share and join the search," Dory pleaded. "I still have hope he will be found so he can get the help he needs to be happy and healthy again."
