Virginia "Ginny" Foreman Lewis Passes Away After Battle with Brain Cancer; Community Mourns Loss in Aiken, SC

Aiken, South Carolina – Virginia “Ginny” Foreman Lewis, a beloved member of the Aiken community, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, after a short battle with brain cancer. She was known for her warm spirit and compassionate heart, touching the lives of many around her.

Ginny leaves behind a legacy as a devoted mother, Nonnie, sister, Neena, and friend. Her family and friends are mourning her loss while celebrating the beautiful life she lived. In her memory, a fundraiser has been organized by Tracy Norton, aiming to raise $15,000 for a proper burial and funeral service. As of now, $575 has been raised through donations from Cameron Mason, Barbara Phillips, and an anonymous donor.

Expressions of sympathy and condolences have poured in, especially on social media. Several individuals have taken to Facebook to share their thoughts and prayers for Ginny and her family.

Paula Wicker Ivey wrote, “Prayers for y’all,” while Kathryn Robinson shared, “You and your family are in my prayers.” Loren Ivey simply posted, “Prayers.” Other community members, including Mark Lucas and Emily Hearn Mercer, also expressed their support, with Mercer stating, “Sending prayers.” Summer Chambers Phillips added, “I’m so sorry for your loss. Your family is in our prayers,” and Alicia Greene said, “Love you, sending hugs and prayers.” Jane Perry offered her condolences with, “Prayers .. so sorry for your loss .. God Bless.”

The outpouring of love and support from the community reflects the deep impact Ginny had on those around her. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the fundraiser to help cover the funeral expenses and honor Ginny’s memory.
