Waterhead Warriors ARLFC Mourns the Loss of Life Member Tony Richmond After His Battle with Alzheimer’s Disease

Tony Richmond, a beloved life member of the Waterhead Warriors ARLFC, has passed away at the age of 79 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Richmond, who was a long-serving committee member, died on February 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and loyalty that deeply impacted those around him.

Richmond’s association with the Waterhead Warriors began in the mid-1960s, where his quiet strength and unwavering commitment to the club earned him the esteemed title of life member. His contributions were not just in his official capacities but also in the heartfelt support he offered to the club and its members over the decades.

Michael Smith, a fellow club member, reflected on Richmond’s influence, stating, “I remember Tony from my time at Waterhead in the mid-60s. He was a quietly spoken man, a very loyal and respected member of the Club, a lovely guy!!! R.I.P. Tony Richmond.”

Richmond’s son, Keith Richmond, expressed his deep personal loss, sharing, “Rest in Peace Dad, thanks for your time, thanks for the memories, and I appreciate all your help. Will miss you each and every day. Early yesterday morning aged 79 my dad Tony Richmond passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He battled hard and coped really well throughout, but unfortunately, it was his time to go. 15/02/1945 – 17/02/2024.”

The Waterhead Warriors ARLFC also expressed their condolences, stating, “So sad to hear the passing of club stalwart, life member, and long-time committee member Tony Richmond. Our thoughts go out to Margaret and all the family.”

Tony Richmond’s legacy will continue to be felt by all who knew him, as his dedication to the club and his gentle nature left an indelible mark on the Waterhead Warriors ARLFC community.
