Wilmington College Mourns the Loss of Beloved Student Mackenzie Corbin, Agribusiness Major from South Salem, Ohio

Wilmington, Ohio – The Wilmington College community is in deep mourning following the unexpected death of Mackenzie Corbin, a sophomore agribusiness major and cherished member of the Sigma Alpha sorority. Mackenzie, who hailed from South Salem, Ohio, passed away overnight, leaving a profound void within the campus community.

In response to this devastating loss, Wilmington College President Corey Cockerill addressed the campus, expressing the sorrow that has enveloped students, faculty, and staff. Classes at Wilmington College have been canceled for Monday, August 19th, to allow the campus community to grieve collectively. Several locations on campus, including the T. Canby Jones Meetinghouse and the McCoy Room, have been designated as spaces for students, faculty, and staff to gather, seek counseling, and support each other. Professional counselors are available to provide assistance throughout the day.
