World Karate Community Mourns the Passing of Vladimir Jorga, Beloved Sensei and European Traditional Karate Federation President

Belgrade, Serbia – The world of traditional karate and sports medicine is in mourning following the passing of Dr. Vladimir Jorga, a towering figure in both fields. Dr. Jorga, who served as the President of the European Traditional Karate Federation, passed away, leaving behind a legacy that has profoundly impacted the martial arts community and the academic world alike.

Dr. Vladimir Jorga was not only a master of karate but also an esteemed medical doctor and academic. He dedicated more than two decades as the Dean of the European Center for Peace and Development at the International Faculty for Sport in Belgrade, Serbia. His leadership and vision helped shape the institution into a renowned center for sports education and development.

A full-time professor at the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade, from 1971 to 2002, Dr. Jorga specialized in Sport Medicine, Hygiene, and Medical Ecology. His contributions to these fields were instrumental in advancing the understanding and practice of sports medicine, leaving an indelible mark on both his students and colleagues.

As the President of the European Traditional Karate Federation, Dr. Jorga was a passionate advocate for preserving the traditions of karate. His influence extended beyond the dojo, inspiring countless students and practitioners through his teachings, mentorship, and dedication to the martial art.

The news of his passing has elicited an outpouring of grief and respect from those who knew him. On Facebook, Zurab Merabishvili shared his thoughts: "It is hard to believe and impossible to imagine that our beloved teacher, friend, and Sensei, Dr. Vladimir Jorga, is no longer with us. Great master of karate, doctor of medicine, famous scientist, everyone’s favorite person. We loved you and will miss you. Rest in peace, dear Sensei."

Other friends and colleagues also expressed their sorrow. Mircea Popa simply wrote, "RIP Sensei!" while Андрей Чепеленко commented, "как же так, какая потеря, какой человек…(((. Покойся с миром Сенсей…" reflecting the deep loss felt by the community.

Dr. Jorga’s passing is a significant loss to both the martial arts and medical communities. His legacy, however, will continue to inspire future generations of students and practitioners, ensuring that his contributions to sport medicine and traditional karate will not be forgotten.

May Sensei Vladimir Jorga rest in peace. His life’s work will live on through the countless lives he touched and the knowledge he imparted.
