Yadira Caamal Tragically Killed in Fatal San Fernando Car Crash, Community Mourns

San Fernando, California – Yadira Caamal, a 45-year-old resident of San Fernando, tragically lost her life in a fatal car crash on Monday, July 15. The accident occurred around 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Hollister Street, involving a black Silverado truck and a white Audi.

According to the San Fernando Police Department (SFPD), one of the vehicles collided with a telephone pole. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that one person had to be rescued from their vehicle. The crash also left a juvenile with non-life-threatening injuries, while another individual was critically injured. The incident is currently under investigation by San Fernando detectives as a potential case of vehicular manslaughter.

In response to the tragic accident, San Fernando Police Chief Fabian Valdez expressed his condolences to the family of Yadira Caamal and emphasized the importance of safer driving practices. He also announced plans to enhance traffic enforcement in the area, including the implementation of DUI checkpoints and increased patrols starting in August. Additionally, three new officers will be introduced at the City Council meeting on August 5, 2024, to strengthen local police resources.

The local community has been deeply affected by this tragic event. Vee Ortega shared their sorrow on Facebook, posting, "It is with deep sadness that I share this GoFundMe page for Marcos and Yadira, a beloved husband and wife who were taken from us too soon. The funds raised will go toward covering their funeral expenses and services. Any contribution would mean the world to their grieving family."

Veronica Pulido Blandon, another community member, also expressed her grief on social media, joining others in mourning the loss of Yadira Caamal.

In light of the accident, Chief Valdez has encouraged residents to participate in upcoming public meetings to discuss community safety concerns and work towards preventing similar incidents in the future. The San Fernando Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of its residents and addressing the pressing issue of speeding in the area.
